When you hear him spout his hateful rhetoric,
When you see his disease-like countenance,
When you hear of his past, his conviction, his ignorance.
When you see him on a platform I am ashamed to have given him,
When you wonder to yourself, where could he have come from?
When you find out I am from the same place too.
When I have to apologise for my people's ignorance.
Don't judge me too harshly, it was not in my name.
Judge us all harshly, it is in all of our names.
and apathy creeps.
Once you place your foot on the quicksand you are already gone, fighting only makes it worse. Relax and you might not go down this time. I have already taken the step, I cannot blame myself for that. Still I do.
Don't fight.
Still I do.
According to the WD40 website our favorite door-squeak-stopper has over 2000 uses. Now, most of these are pretty obvious; it lubricates and cleans somewhat. It is also a fairly repetetive read, when you get to "can help free fingers stuck in a hole" you start to think 'well yeah, obviously'. But I was surprised by a few, for various reasons.
Here are my top 10.
10. Removes grease from lunch boxes - Well yeah, but as it's a smelly spray-on lubricant don't you have to wash the lunch box after? Why not just wash the lunch box and cut out the WD40 middle-man?
9. Removes stains from hot tubs - just liked this one for the imagery.
8. Lubricates crossbows - One of the obvious ones, yes it lubricates. Nice, if slightly disturbing, twist though.
7. Removes play-dough from hair - Similar to number 10. WD40 is pretty greasy and flammable, if you spray it in your hair you should wash it. Play-Dough is water based and will wash out of hair. Are you with me? WD40 middle man again.
6. Shines seashells - That's just cute. I'm going to try that.
5. Creates pretty rainbow formations when applied to empty aquariums - Go out, have some fun. Meet some people.
4. Spray lightly over stagnant water to keep mosquito eggs from hatching - Could be useful but most stagnant bodies of water I know have a fairly large surface area. You would need a lot of WD40 and I think there may be some environmental implications.
3. Softens stiff leather dog collars - Lube and dog collars? Images again.
2. Use the No-Mess Pen to removing finger prints and smudges from your Martial Arts Sword - What sort of smudges? Smudges of blood, from the person who put the fingerprints on your precious sword? Or are they your fingerprints and are you just removing evidence? Either way, I don't like.
1.Spray on Twister game for more fun - cool! Smelly and flammable but cool.
There's nothing like losing a load of blood to clear the head. I always get nosebleeds at this time of year and today's was a pretty special one. It stopped eventually, they always stop. That's why I've never got myself cauterised, I'm also slightly scared it would impare my taste and smell.
Still I might sneeze and get itchy eyes and a swollen throat. I might evenbleed some times but I don't mind. There are dragonflies buzzing outside my window and the sun is beaming down again. Hello summer!
When I retire I'll retire to the land. I'll sit in the sun and tend my crops. My family will come to my warm sunny place and listen to my tales and listen to my songs. My family will eat with me, healthy and strong.
When I retire I'll write without reason and read without a goal. My love by my side, we'll lie back our smiles and stretch out on our memories. We'll create new ones too and wander without urgency. For when I retire it will be for good.
Someone recommended writing a blog as a way to keep track of the things that happen in life. As I walk around, pondering and introspecting all the way, I shudder to think of the things that occur to me and appear before me which I just lose. I'm a forgetful soul and I have trouble focusing on one thing for too long. Midnight comes and I'm the madman shaking a dead geranium. "Come on wake up!" I say, but these moments die as they are born.
Maybe I can hold them in here. We've never had such a resource before, unofficial, anonymous, with the light touch needed to leave no marks. Multimodal and accessible to all, disposable and permanent. I've sat in the shadows for years, scared to raise my voice. Now I feel ready to play.
Yes, you are right. We are all connected and have the potential to be that which we judge. Its strange... read more
